Jubilant over their accomplishment during a long flying day, pilots of Wing Commander Dal Russel's Canadian Spitfire wing in France pose for a snapshot in the mobile interrogation room of their Canadian airfield, shortly after the last of the day's 139 sorties had been completed. Canada Fliers Are Promoted

July 3, 1942 - (CP) - Flying Officer R. C. Fumerton of Fort Coulonge, Que., credited with shooting down five enemy bombers in eight days over Malta, has been promoted to flight-lieutenant, it was announced today by R.C.A.F. Headquarters. Last March 27 he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for shooting down a Heinkel bomber over Suez.

LAPP, S/L Elsi Gordon (15507) - Distinguished Flying Cross - No.411 Squadron
Award effective 18 December 1944 as per London Gazette dated 29 December 1944 and
AFRO 379/45 dated 2 March 1945.

In all his work as an operational pilot, Squadron Leader Lapp has been outstanding as a fighter pilot and section leader. Since the invasion of the continent he has attacked the enemy in the air and on the ground with unfailing courage and determination and frequently in the face of heavy opposition. During this period he has destroyed two enemy aircraft and damaged others. He has also destroyed or damaged a large number of tanks and other transport vehicles.

Fliers Win DFC's

Ottawa, Jan. 1, 1945 - (CP) - Air Force Headquarters tonight announced the award of three bars to the Distinguished Flying Cross and of 30 DFC's to RCAF personnel serving overseas.
Two of the DFC's went to Flt. Lt. Douglas Warren and Flt. Lt. Bruce Warren, twin brothers from Ponoka, Alta., who are serving with the same squadron overseas. The recipients:
