Jozef Stanislau Zalenski

RAF  Flight Sergeant

 

Born in Poland in 1913.

Flew with 315, 316 & 306 Squadrons, RAF.

on 31 January 1944, while with 315 Squadron, he crash landed in a field nursery in Hampton after engine failure resulting in a severe head injury which required a plate be installed in his head.

He was rescued by 2 women.

He later changed his last name to Hampton in honor of that town.

He was involved with 10 V-1 destructions while with 306 Sqn.

He immigrated to Canada in 1960.
