** Sommer was a Lieutenant in the Royal Danish Naval Air Service. He then joined the Luftwaffe (JG27), served in Africa, Italy & on the eastern front. After the war, he was arrested, tried, and sentenced to 8 years in prison. He appealed and was given 12 years. He was pardoned in 1950 however.
