Born 11 May 1920 in Knox Hill, Florida.
Joined the Army Reserves, 4 October 1940.
Winged at Spence Field, 6 September 1942 as a S/Sgt.
Assigned to 317 FS, 325 FG.
Promoted to W/O, 2 Dec. 1942 then F/O two days later.
Wounded In Action, 30 July 1943.
Made 2nd Lt., 2 April 1944 then 1st Lt. on 2 July 1944.
POW 2 July 1944.
(mid-air collision, 15 miles NE of Budapest).
Held in Stalag Luft VI (Lithuania)
Released from active duty, 6 January 1946.
Promoted to Captain, 20 August 1946.
Joined the Regular Air Force, 10 October 1947.
Promoted to Major, 2 April 1958.
Retired from the Air Force in April of 1964.
Died in Tampa Florida, 15 August 1976 of a heart attack. |
