Scoring goes - Destroyed / Probably Destroyed / Damaged
If one of those categories shows two numbers separated with a hyphen ( - ) the exact number is not known & the score is considered to be within that range.
According to Christopher Shores, the RAF decided that on 12 August 1940 an "Unconfirmed Destroyed" would be reclassified as a "Probably Destroyed." Here you will find early "unconfirmed" claims represented in the "probable" spot.
OTG = On The Ground, OTW = On The Water, KIA = Killed In Action,
MIA = Missing In Action, KiFA = Killed in a Flying Accident, D = died, K = killed It should be noted that although we take great care to make these scores as accurate as possible, the main reason for this site is to put faces to names, not to be a definitive list of scores.

"Herky's Big Day" by Stan Stokes - January 30th, 1944 Northern Italy. "Herky"
Green and his flight of "Jugs" encounter a group of Ju-52s
and Green proceeds to down four. Minutes later he engages a Macchi
202 in a low-level fight and bags kill number 5. On the return leg
"Herky" encounters a Dornier Do-217, shoots it down, and
raises his day's total to 6 kills. More
Americans became Aces while flying the P-47 than any other fighter
during WW2
