______________________________________________________

Because this page was getting too big, I moved the
Honorary Canadian Almost Aces & Honorable Mentions of WW2
HERE

______________________________________________________

This incomplete list of "Honorary Canadian Aces" is made up of Aces who were in the RCAF at some time during WW2, like the Americans who went to Canada and enlisted because the US had not yet entered the war (I've read that approximately 10% of the RCAF enlistments when WW2 began were Americans). Johnny Johnson and Douglas Bader however, commanded RAF "Canadian" Wings and were given "Honorary Canadian" status by the Canadians who served with them. In fact Johnson even wore a "Canada" patch on the shoulder of his uniform.
Also, the scores shown represent career totals and may not be RCAF-service (or even ww2) specific. In the case of 'Whitey' Dahl, neither, but he did fly for the RCAF during ww2 (although not in a combat roll) and he was considered an Ace.
Whats a Canerican? Well, it's like an Americanadian except a Canerican was born in Canada and moved to the States & an Americanadian was born in the US and moved to Canada ... may or may not be an actual dual citizen. (I made up these words for people like myself who feel equally at home in either country. Americanadians & Canericans know who they are)
As far as this whole site goes however, in some cases I don't know if all the kills posted are air kills (which are listed by kills, probables, damaged, then OTG stats if any). If I learn some are ground kills (OTG), I add that info along with probables (prob) and damaged (dam) claims and drop the Ace's score accordingly. [click here to see a list of abbreviations/acronyms/slang]
Some day I'll have it fairly figured out (yeah right, that means to my satisfaction ;^) but when I do, I wouldn't fight any duels over these numbers. There's just no way to be 100% sure about things like this ..

And another thing ...
If you have a photo that's better than one you see here,
or better yet, a photo you don't see here, how about !?!
If you have corrections/suggestions, feel free to click that link and suggest away.

THANKS
